The patriarch of Ukrainian historical and agrarian science: to the 80th anniversary of professor Anatoliy Morozov

Abstract

The purpose of this personalistic article is to provide a general overview of the life path and scholarly work
of Anatoliy Heorhiyovych Morozov, a prominent Ukrainian scholar in the field of historical and agrarian science, Doctor of
Historical Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of Archaeology and Special Branches of Historical Science at
Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy. This bio-historiographical study is published on the occasion of his 80th birthday and the 40th anniversary of his scholarly activity.
The scholarly novelty of the article lies in a comprehensive, research-driven, and personalistic understanding of the
life and scholarly heritage of Professor A. Morozov as a leader in Ukrainian peasant studies. The article presents the main
milestones of the scientist’s life, emphasizing the biographical facts that contributed to the genesis and development of his scholarly creativity, and analyzes the scientist’s creative output.
Conclusions. The empirical and historiographical material utilized provides grounds to assert that Professor A. Morozov
represents an outstanding figure in contemporary Ukrainian historiography, a talented organizer of the nation’s scholarly life, a renowned educator, and an active public figure. His creative output is polythematic and diverse in genres, characterized by a broad chronological scope, a significant level of novelty, and promising research prospects. The scholar’s historiographical work is predominantly represented by research in the field of agrarian history. The scholarly school of agrarian historians founded by A. Morozov has achieved nation-wide recognition and boasts substantial research accomplishments. The jubilee celebrant has made a significant contribution to modern higher education and the training of scientific personnel. The proposed study does not exhaust this personalistic topic and leaves a vast epistemological field for future researchers.
