Author’s Summary in English to scientific article in the journal “Ukrainian Peasant”

Foreign partners and international databases make very high demands on Summary writing not only in Ukrainian journals but also in foreign editions.

The summary to the article shows its essence, relevance and scientific novelty. The informational openness of the summary will make it easier for many authors to include their articles in the index database and increase the level of citation of the author.

We hope that the following guidelines will help you to write summary correctly.

Basic requirements for Summary:

The main goals and objectives of the author’s summary

Summary is a short overview of a larger scientific work. The author’s summary can be published independently, in isolation from the main text, and therefore, should be clear without referring to the publication itself.

The author’s summary of the article is the main source of information in national and foreign information systems and databases indexing the journal as well as in search engines.

The summary in English is published in the English-language block of information about an article that is downloaded on the English-language version of the journal site and is prepared for foreign reference databases and analytical systems (citation indices).

The author’s summary in Ukrainian (Russian) is the basis for the preparation of the author’s summary in English, but the English summary should be larger in volume and should not repeat the Ukrainian summary. Summary is actually a brief summary of the article in English.

Structure and content of author’s summary (not less than 1800 characters), font - Times New Roman Cyr; skittles - 14; interval - 1.5; margins: upper, lower, right - 1.5 cm, left - 3 cm.

  • Name, Article Title (in English)
  • Introduction
  • Purpose
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Originality
  • Conclusion

The methodology should be described only if it contains novelty and it is of interest in terms of the presented article.

The results of the work should be described accurately and informatively. The main theoretical and experimental results, actual data, identified relationships and patterns are presented.

New results and data of long-term significance, important discoveries, conclusions that disprove existing theories, as well as the data that, in the author’s opinion, are of practical importance, are preferred.  The conclusions can be accompanied by the recommendations, estimations, suggestions, hypotheses described in the article.

The information contained in the title of the article should not be repeated in the text of the authors summary. Unnecessary introductory phrases (e.g. “The author of the article considers…”) should be avoided.

Historical references, if they do not constitute the main content of the document, the description of previously published works and well-known principles are not provided in the authors summary.

In the text of the author’s summary, it is necessary to use syntactic constructions, peculiar to the language of scientific documents, to avoid complex grammatical constructions.

In the text of the author’s summary, key words from the article text should be used.

The text of the author’s summary should be concise and clear, free from minor information, unnecessary introductory words, general and minor formulations.

Abbreviations and conventions, except for common ones, apply in exceptional cases.

The author’s summary should be written in good (!!!) English, and all machine (computer) translations will be returned to the authors for revision.
