The Editorial Board of the scholarly journal “Ukrainian Peasant” adheres to the principles of academic integrity, transparency of editorial procedures, and the prevention of conflicts of interest.

This policy establishes the procedures for handling manuscripts authored or co-authored by members of the editorial board and is aimed at ensuring objectivity, impartiality, and independence in the peer review process.

This policy applies in cases where the author or co-author of a manuscript is:

  • the Editor-in-Chief;
  • a member of the Editorial Board;
  • the Executive Secretary or another editorial staff member.

The policy applies to all types of scholarly submissions to the journal.

All manuscripts falling under this policy are subject to double-blind peer review.

The identities of both reviewers and authors remain mutually anonymous.

An author who is a member of the Editorial Board must disclose this status at the time of manuscript submission.

An author-editor is completely excluded from the selection of reviewers, the editorial evaluation, and the decision-making process regarding publication.

An independent editor is appointed to handle the manuscript. This editor must not be a co-author, must have no conflict of interest, and must not have academic or professional ties with the author.

If necessary, an external expert may be involved.

The manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers who are not members of the Editorial Board and who meet the standards of academic integrity.

Peer review is conducted in accordance with the general editorial policy of the journal.

The final decision on publication is made by the independent editor based on the reviewers’ reports.

The author-editor has no influence on this decision.

The author has the right to appeal the editorial decision.

Appeals are considered by the Editorial Board without the participation of the author and, if necessary, with the involvement of an independent expert.

The Editorial Board ensures compliance with this policy, guarantees the independence of the peer review process, and prevents any influence of author-editors on editorial decisions. In cases of violations, the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) are applied.
